Invitation TO MEETING: Organising for housing justice at Nordic Labour Film Festival 2022

Welcome to Organising for housing justice – three days of organising experiences during the Nordic Labour Film Festival 4-6th of November.

Great that you want to join the meeting! Together we learn the necessary tools to organise in your house and to activate your area/neighbourhood. We get to practise our newly learnt skills and we share our experiences.

The program contains both our own experience-sharing meetings, participating in a demonstration and as well as organising related program items by London Renters Union in the “open” festival program.

The aim is to learn for each other, both within groups in Sweden and experiences in the UK, and share practical methods on how we can work with our neighbours for housing justice.

THE PROGRAM

FRIDAY:

For you joining already on Friday we gather at 18.15 to watch the festival inauguration at Cinema Panora, see the film about the L.A. Teachers’ strike, followed by a panel discussion with school staff from the US, Sweden, and we get to know each other at the Workers’ Bar.

SATURDAY:

– We start for real on Saturday with communal breakfast at 9:30 am at ABF.

– Then we have our first first organising workshop at 10 to 12 am. We get to know each other, talk about what we are already working with and share experiences of what is working/not working.

– After that we move to Cinema Panora where we have lunch at the community kitchen at 12 am to 1 pm.

– After lunch we leave for the protest that starts at Möllevångstorget at 2 pm.

– After the demonstration it’s time for London Renters Unions talk 5:00-5:45 pm at Cinema Panora. Focus is on their ways to transform the London housing system and win homes for people, not private profit. Hear about their struggles and victories in an increasingly hostile housing market.

– We end the evening with dance and a glass (of any kind) at the RåFILM 20 years celebration.

SUNDAY:

– We start with a communal breakfast at 9:30 am at ABF.

– Then we have our second organising workshop at 10 to 12 am.

– After that we move to Cinema Panora where we have lunch at the community kitchen at 12 am to 1 pm.

– We join the organising workshop How to build a movement by Labor Notes together with union groups at the festival.

– Lastly, we hope to set up an extra screening with London Renters Unions new documentary (more information will come).
